Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates discussed the Next Web, or Web 2.0, in his keynote address at the MIX06 Web conference in Las Vegas today, highlighting new technologies including off-the-browser user experiences using Windows Gadgets, a new feature of the Windows Vista operating system. The first technology demonstration in his keynote address spotlighted a Vista Gadget developed by speakTECH in conjunction with MySpace.com. The Gadget exposes content from the popular social networking website via web services. Gates described how new web technologies are transforming the way companies interact with their customers through 'beyond-the-browser' experiences such as the Gadget. He highlighted how industry leaders are leveraging these latest Microsoft technologies to improve the online experience to attract and retain customers.
